Barcelona’s Midfield Trio Ready to Lead Spain to Euro 2025 Final

According to reports from Lausanne, Barcelona’s midfield trio — Alexia Putellas, Aitana Bonmatí, and Patri Guijarro — now have a unique opportunity to lead Spain to their first-ever Euro 2025 final.

These three players — who have won numerous trophies with Barcelona — have only started together twice in Spain’s last 21 major tournament matches. Various obstacles including injuries, protests, and health issues have prevented them from performing together.

“If anyone is up for it, it’s Alexia,” said Jana Fernández, their teammate at Barcelona and the national team.

At Euro 2025, they have shown impressive form — Putellas has scored three goals and provided four assists in the group stage, while the trio has shared MVP awards in all of Spain’s matches so far.

Their biggest challenge awaits in the semifinals against Germany — a team they have never beaten and holders of eight European titles.

“I have huge respect for Germany. If you look at the history of the European Championship, they have eight under their belt, so the pressure is on them,” Bonmatí stated ahead of the crucial match.
