La Liga has set the date for El Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid — the potentially title-deciding clash will take place on May 11 at 4:15 PM local time at the Olympic Stadium.

The two teams remain in tight competition at the top of the table — Barcelona holds a four-point lead over Madrid with seven matches remaining. Both sides recently secured identical 1-0 victories, Barcelona defeating Leganes and Madrid overcoming Alaves.

Barcelona has dominated the head-to-head encounters this season:

  • Won 4-0 at Santiago Bernabeu in Octoberspan
  • Won 5-2 in Spanish Super Cup final in January

Both teams maintain treble hopes, though Madrid faces an uphill battle after losing 3-0 to Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-final first leg. Meanwhile, Barcelona sits comfortably with a 4-0 advantage over Borussia Dortmund.

Before the league Clasico, the teams will meet in the Copa del Rey final in Seville on April 26.
