Barcelona Signs Young Espanyol Goalkeeper Joan Garcia

According to Bolasport.com, Barcelona has completed the transfer of talented young goalkeeper Joan Garcia Pons from Espanyol for a fee of 25 million euros.

The 24-year-old keeper — who is a native son of Catalunya — has signed a six-year contract that will keep him at Camp Nou until 2031.

Garcia has the potential to compete for the starting goalkeeper position with Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Wojciech Szczesny — thanks to his impressive performance with Espanyol last season.

Despite playing for a team struggling in the lower half of the table, the 1.91-meter tall goalkeeper recorded the most saves in LaLiga 2024-2025 — which greatly contributed to Espanyol’s efforts to avoid relegation.
