Barcelona Needs Lewandowski Successor and New Center Back Next Season

After securing a domestic double and nearly reaching the Champions League final this season, Barcelona now faces the challenge of maintaining team performance — particularly in squad planning.

President Joan Laporta has proven his financial “lever” strategy yielded positive results on the field. However, the club must still carefully comply with LaLiga’s financial regulations, with net spending expected around €50 million.

The current squad needs several key additions. The main priority is finding a successor to Robert Lewandowski who will turn 37, and a new center back to partner Pau Cubarsi. The goalkeeper position also needs clarity following Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s injury.

“La Masia” continues producing quality young talent like Lamine Yamal and Marc Bernal. However, several players including Andreas Christensen, Ronald Araujo, and Ansu Fati are likely to be sold to raise transfer funds.

Despite financial limitations, Barcelona remains optimistic about maintaining competitiveness with a combination of senior players and young talent. The key is maintaining financial discipline while selectively strengthening the team.
