Barcelona Gets LaLiga Permission for Three Away Games at Season Start

Barcelona has received special permission from LaLiga to play their first three matches of the 2025-26 season as away fixtures — while renovation work continues at Spotify Camp Nou.

The La Liga champions have been playing at the Olympic Stadium for the past two seasons — while their home ground undergoes extensive renovation. Initial plans to return to Camp Nou by the end of 2024 were postponed due to delays in the stadium renewal process.

The Catalan club has until September to ensure Camp Nou is ready for league matches. They plan to use the stadium with limited capacity:

  • 50,000 to 60,000 spectators
  • Renovation will continue between matches
  • Final capacity target around 105,000 spectators

Although the renovation was initially targeted for completion at the start of the 2026-27 season, the club has not confirmed whether this delay will affect the overall completion schedule.
