Barcelona in Champions League Pot 1 as Roma Miss Out Again

Barcelona have secured a spot in Champions League 2025-26 Pot 1 after AS Roma missed out on qualification for the second straight year.

Juventus‘ last-day win in Serie A pushed Roma out of the top four, relegating them to the Europa League and allowing Barcelona (10th in UEFA rankings) to replace 9th-placed Roma in Pot 1.

Under the new league format, all 36 qualified teams will be drawn into a single table using a computerized system. The top 8 teams in the final standings will advance directly to the Round of 16, while those ranked 9–24 must compete in a playoff round.

Here are the confirmed Pot 1 teams for the group stage draw:

  • Manchester City
  • Bayern Munich
  • Liverpool
  • Paris Saint-Germain
  • Internazionale
  • Chelsea
  • Borussia Dortmund
  • Barcelona

The group stage draw is scheduled for August 28, 2025, and the new system allows Pot 1 teams to face each other in the league phase.
