Bali United Appoints Dutch Coach Johnny Jansen to Replace Teco

Bali United has officially appointed Johnny Jansen as their new head coach ahead of the upcoming Liga 1 Indonesia season. The Dutch tactician steps in to replace long-time manager Stefano “Teco” Cugurra, who led the club to notable success during his tenure.

A Coach with Eredivisie Experience

The 50-year-old Jansen brings with him a solid coaching background in the Netherlands, with his most recent position being at PEC Zwolle — a club competing in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football.

During his stint at PEC Zwolle, Jansen had the opportunity to coach Eliano Reijnders, who has since become a player for the Indonesian national team.

Mixed Results Against Top Dutch Managers

Throughout his coaching career in the Netherlands, Jansen has gone head-to-head with some of Europe’s top minds, including Arne Slot (Feyenoord) and Erik ten Hag (Manchester United/former Ajax). However, his track record remains modest, registering only one win in six matches against Arne Slot.

Bali United fans will be hoping Jansen can translate his European experience into domestic success, as the club seeks to reclaim its title aspirations.
