Bagnaia struggles to escape Marc Marquez’s shadow at Ducati

Francesco Bagnaia faces significant challenges at Ducati — the Italian rider is finding it difficult to match the performance of his new teammate Marc Marquez in the 2025 MotoGP season.

Despite riding the best motorcycle on the grid, the two-time world champion has yet to demonstrate the dominance of previous seasons. After eight race rounds, Bagnaia trails behind Marquez in both main races and sprint races.

The situation becomes more complex as Alex Marquez from Gresini Racing — using last year’s Ducati — also outperforms Bagnaia. MotoGP observer Jaime Alguersuari, who witnessed GP Aragon firsthand, concludes that the 28-year-old rider is working hard to emerge from Marquez’s shadow.
