Bagnaia claims third podium in German MotoGP thanks to luck

Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati Lenovo team secured third podium in the 2025 German MotoGP at Sachsenring circuit — a success that came with a stroke of luck.

The Italian rider got his podium chance after Fabio Di Giannantonio from Pertamina Enduro VR46 and Alex Marquez from BK8 Gresini Racing suffered crashes. Bagnaia finished seven seconds behind his teammate, Marc Marquez, who won the race.

This result contrasts with last season — when Bagnaia claimed victory with Marc and Alex Marquez finishing second and third respectively. The podium serves as consolation after disappointing Sprint Race performance finishing 12th.

“After Saturday’s disaster, there was something to make up for, he managed to get on the podium, even though some riders in front crashed,” stated Davide Tardozzi, Ducati Lenovo Team Manager, to SkySport MotoGP.
