Bagnaia Admits His Mistakes Led Ducati to Recruit Marquez for MotoGP 2025

Francesco Bagnaia faces significant challenges in the 2025 MotoGP season after losing his world title to Jorge Martin last year — a situation that ultimately led Ducati to recruit Marc Marquez.

The 28-year-old Italian rider previously secured world titles in 2022 by defeating Fabio Quartararo, and in 2023 by outperforming Jorge Martin — but failed to achieve a hat-trick after losing the crown in 2024.

Despite showing performance improvements with GP25 between Americas and Qatar races, Bagnaia appears to struggle against his new teammate’s dominance. Marquez has immediately demonstrated his prowess by securing various pole positions and victories since joining the Italian manufacturer.

“I think Ducati wanted this situation to happen. Last year they lost the world title because of my mistakes,” Bagnaia revealed to TNT Sports.

“Having the fastest bike among all, winning 18 races including sprint races and then failing in the World Championship means something was wrong.”

With Marc Marquez now part of the Ducati team, Francesco Bagnaia will have to find a way to overcome his challenges and regain his title bid. The season ahead will undoubtedly test his resilience as he faces an even more competitive MotoGP field.
