Ayush Shetty ends India’s title drought by winning US Open 2025

Ayush Shetty achieved a remarkable feat by winning the US Open 2025 at Mid-America Centre, Iowa – ending India’s title drought in this season’s BWF World Tour.

The 20-year-old player defeated Canadian representative Brian Yang with a convincing score of 21-18, 21-13 in today’s final match.

Shetty – who belongs to the same generation as Indonesia’s Alwi Farhan – has a notable junior achievement with a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships about two years ago.

This accomplishment brings fresh hope for India during challenging times – with senior players like Prannoy H.S, Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, and the pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty struggling with injuries.
