Atletico Madrid Close to Signing Renato Veiga from Chelsea

According to ESPN sources, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea are set to meet soon to finalize the transfer of Renato Veiga to the LaLiga side.

Diego Simeone‘s squad has made recruiting a central defender a top priority after recently signing Marc Pubill from Almeria in a deal worth €16 million, plus an additional €4 million in performance-related bonuses.

Although negotiations are still short of Chelsea’s asking price — reportedly around £40–45 million — the strong relationship between the two clubs gives confidence that a deal for the 21-year-old Portuguese defender will eventually be reached.

Veiga, who is capable of playing as a centre-back, left-back, or defensive midfielder, was signed by Chelsea for €14 million before being loaned out to Juventus in January.

The move is part of a broader rebuild at Atletico Madrid, who have already secured multiple signings this summer, including:

Meanwhile, the Spanish club has also reached an agreement to transfer Rodrigo De Paul to Inter Miami for £15 million. The Argentine midfielder is set to reunite with Lionel Messi at the MLS club on a four-year contract.
