Aston Martin Faces Dramatic Performance Drop in 2025 Season

Aston Martin’s Performance Struggles in 2025

Aston Martin is experiencing a sharp decline in their Formula 1 performance during the 2025 season. The Silverstone-based team has only collected 10 points in the first five races — a stark contrast to their achievement two years ago when they secured four podiums and 102 points in the same period.

Aston Martin’s Decline Compared to Last Season

Technical data shows that Aston Martin is the team with the lowest performance improvement compared to last season — gaining only an average of two and a half tenths compared to 2024. At the Jeddah Circuit, the AMR25 became the only car unable to surpass the previous year’s lap time.

Technical Data Shows Minimal Improvement

“Can we get more out of the car? Yes, I think we can,” said Andy Cowell, Aston Martin team principal after the Saudi Arabian GP. “There are many areas where we can get more out of the car. Is it enough to win races? No, but is it where we can push forward a bit more? Yes it is.”

Team Adjustments and Challenges

The team has tried various technical approaches — from modifying the front wing design to balancing car setup. Fernando Alonso acknowledged that slow corners were the team’s main weakness in the first four Grand Prix, along with occasional bouncing issues.

Adrian Newey’s Influence on Future Developments

Although Adrian Newey joined the team last month, his focus won’t be directed toward developing the 2025 car. However, his expertise is expected to help optimize the team’s new facilities, including the wind tunnel that began operating around the Australian GP.
