Asnawi Withdraws from ASEAN All Stars Squad

Asnawi Mangkualam has officially withdrawn from the ASEAN All Stars squad ahead of their friendly match against Manchester United during the Asia Tour 2025. The decision was announced by his club, Port FC, on Monday (May 26, 2025).

Asnawi chose to prioritize his call-up to the Indonesia national football team, which is preparing for crucial 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against China (June 5) and Japan (June 10). He is currently in Bali for the national team’s training camp.

The ASEAN All Stars vs Manchester United match will be held at Bukit Jalil Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, on Wednesday (May 28, 2025), as part of United’s Southeast Asia preseason tour — their first visit to Malaysia since 2009.

Peeradol Chamratsamee has also withdrawn from the All Stars squad due to personal reasons after his wife recently gave birth. Asnawi’s decision to step away from a high-profile exhibition match in favor of national duty has been widely praised as patriotic and professional.
