ASEAN All-Stars Face Manchester United with Minimal Preparation

ASEAN All-Stars Face Manchester United with Minimal Preparation

The ASEAN All-Stars, led by head coach Kim Sang-sik, are set to take on Manchester United in a high-profile exhibition match tonight in Malaysia, as reported by BolaSport.com.

The fixture is part of Manchester United’s post-season tour across Asia, following a tough campaign that saw the English club finish 15th in the Premier League and fall short in the Europa League final under head coach Rúben Amorim.

Disruptions Hit ASEAN Squad Selection

Preparations for the ASEAN All-Stars have been far from ideal. Several last-minute changes hit the squad, most notably the withdrawal of Asnawi Mangkualam, who was initially expected to feature in the lineup. The Indonesian full-back was called up for Indonesia’s national team duties, forcing him to pull out.

In his place, two other Indonesian players stepped in:

  • Kakang Rudianto

  • Malik Risaldi

Only One Training Session Before Matchday

One of the biggest challenges for the mixed ASEAN squad lies in their lack of time together. The team, consisting of 26 selected players from across Southeast Asia, only had one training session prior to tonight’s encounter with Manchester United.

Despite the minimal preparation, fans across the region are hopeful the All-Stars can show competitive spirit and give the Red Devils a proper challenge.
