Arteta speaks out about serious case involving former Arsenal player

Speaking in Singapore, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta affirmed that his club followed proper procedures regarding Thomas Partey — the midfielder who now faces six serious charges.

The former Arsenal player has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault against three different women — with reported incidents occurring between 2021 and 2022.

“The club was very clear in its statement. There are a lot of legal matters that are very complicated so I cannot comment on any of that,” stated Arteta.

The Ghana international was first arrested in July 2022, which triggered a Metropolitan Police investigation. The case was handed to Prosecution in December 2024, and Partey continued playing for Arsenal until his contract expired in June 2025.

When further questioned about his confidence that the club followed the right processes, Arteta responded firmly — “100%.”
