Arteezy Signals Interest in MLBB

After a long break from engaging with the Dota esports community, Arthur “Arteezy” Babaev recently made a surprising social media post suggesting his interest in moving to MLBB.

The popular North American Dota 2 player has been inactive in the competitive scene since leaving Shopify Rebellion in April 2025. However, he has remained active for his fans on his personal channel, occasionally streaming other games like League of Legends and Honor of Kings.

After trying both of those titles, Arteezy seems to be seeking new entertainment in the world of mobile gaming. Out of the blue, he asked his followers about MLBB, indicating the game had caught his attention.

The comment garnered responses from users in no time, especially from professional MLBB players active on X. Many expressed hope at the prospect of seeing Arteezy test his skills in MLBB and potentially collaborate with popular players from outside North America.

Given that some of his fellow Dota 2 professionals have switched to MLBB esports in recent years, it wouldn’t be entirely surprising to see Arteezy appear at an MLBB event this year. NA fans even spotted him participating in a HoK promotional event in North America alongside pros from other mobile gaming competitions previously, so it would not be a new gig for the former Evil Genius legend.

But for now, the 29-year-old former pro has not issued any further response to the fan excitement generated by his initial social media comment.

An inspiration to young MLBB generations

Regardless of his current status, it’s widely known that Arteezy has inspired many young players in the MLBB esports scene with his unique playstyle and personality, particularly among professionals in Southeast Asia.

A prime example here is Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno from Team Liquid PH, known as the world’s most successful MLBB professional. The star jungler from the Philippines made it clear that he was inspired by Arteezy’s gameplay and even adapted his own nickname to sound more like his idol’s.

In Indonesia, several MPL ID coaches with Dota backgrounds, such as Adi “Adi” Asyauri and Alfi “Khezcute” Nelphyana from Onic ID and RRQ, have also cited Arteezy as an inspiration for their careers in MOBA esports. The strategic influence of their idol seems to be reflected in the decision-making they now employ with their teams.

However, his professional years were not all sunshine. While admired for his mechanical skill and personality, Arteezy is also famously known for his misfortune in major tournaments, a curse often referred to by the community as “Arthreezy.” With his retirement from competitive Dota, this meme has now been permanently etched into his legacy.
