Arsenal vs Leeds: Premier League Prediction (23.08.2025)

Arsenal vs Leeds United

On Saturday, August 23, at 18:30 CEST, at the Emirates Stadium in London, the local football club Arsenal will host Leeds United in the second round of the 2025–26 English Premier League. Last season’s runners-up began the new campaign with a 1–0 away victory over Manchester United. The visitors also started with the same scoreline, defeating Everton at home.

Bookmakers see Arsenal as the clear favorite in the clash with Leeds. Odds for a home win are offered at 1.28, a draw at 6.15, and an away victory at 10.50. A high-scoring encounter is expected: over 2.5 total goals is priced at 1.57, while both teams to score is at 2.04.

Arsenal

The main summer signing for Mikel Arteta’s team is undoubtedly Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres, who had been a prolific scorer at Sporting Lisbon. In the opening match against Manchester United, the Swede played 60 minutes but failed to create much danger in front of goal. This set an unusual personal record: for the first time in five seasons, Gyökeres did not score in the opening round of the league he plays in.

Another star arrival for the Gunners is right winger Chukwunonso Madueke. So far, Arteta has not included him in the starting lineup, preferring to rely on established flankers Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Leeds United

Daniel Farke, unlike his opposite number, could not count on big-money transfers, but his team also strengthened well in the summer. The main focus was on bolstering the defense and midfield. Last season, when the Whites won the Championship title, their attack scored nearly 100 goals. Defensively they were solid too, conceding 30 goals in 46 matches—though that was at second-tier level. For comparison, runners-up Burnley conceded just 16.

In the opening round against Everton, the Peacocks played with four defenders and two holding midfielders but still pressed aggressively and dominated across the pitch. Their advantage resulted in just one goal, scored by substitute Lukas Nmecha, a new signing from Wolfsburg.

Head-to-head statistics

In the two Premier League seasons between 2021 and 2023, all four meetings were won by Arsenal.

Prediction

Mikel Arteta is expected to adjust his attack to make better use of the Swedish striker. For added betting value, a wager on Viktor Gyökeres to score is priced at 1.84.
