According to ESPN, Arsenal are in pole position to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi in the upcoming summer transfer window — despite interest from Real Madrid and Liverpool.

The North London club is ready to trigger the €60 million release clause for the 26-year-old. Manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta agree that Zubimendi would strengthen the midfield significantly.

This move comes amid midfield uncertainty at Arsenal, with contracts of Thomas Partey and Jorginho expiring this summer. Jorginho, currently sidelined with a rib injury, has also been linked with a move to Brazil, with Flamengo considered the frontrunner.

Arsenal are planning multiple signings this summer:

  • New striker
  • Wide forward
  • Central midfielder

To support this transfer plan, the club is also set to offload several players. Kieran Tierney is expected to return to Celtic on a free transfer, while Oleksandr Zinchenko will be allowed to leave if a suitable offer is received.
