Arsenal Held 2-2 by Crystal Palace at Emirates

According to live reporting from Emirates Stadium, Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by Crystal Palace in Premier League action — a result that raises questions ahead of their Champions League semifinal.

Jakub Kiwior, stepping in for the injured Gabriel Magalhães, gave Arsenal the lead in the 3rd minute with a header from Martin Ødegaard’s free kick. However, Eberechi Eze equalized for Crystal Palace with a brilliant volley following a corner.

Leandro Trossard restored Arsenal’s lead before halftime, continuing his fine form after scoring twice last weekend. But a costly mistake late in the game by William Saliba allowed Jean-Philippe Mateta to level the score with a spectacular 30-yard strike.

“We dropped our standards, and credit to Crystal Palace,” said Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

“We struggled to maintain consistency, gave the ball away cheaply, and were late in everything we did.”

Arsenal have now recorded 13 draws this season — 9 of which came after taking the lead — a worrying trend heading into next week’s Champions League semifinal against Paris Saint-Germain.
