APPI Speaks Up Regarding Yuran Fernandes’s Heavy Sanction

The Indonesian Professional Footballers Association (APPI) has officially voiced its objection to the 12-month suspension handed to Yuran Fernandes by the PSSI’s Disciplinary Commission. The penalty bars Fernandes from participating in any Indonesian football activity for one year.

Reaction to Fernandes’s Instagram Post

The disciplinary action was a response to Fernandes’s Instagram post, in which he openly criticized the condition of Indonesian football. The decision has stirred strong reactions from various sectors of the football community.

APPI: Players’ Freedom of Expression Must Be Protected

Achmad Jufriyanto, APPI Vice President, emphasized the organization’s stance:

“As fellow footballers, we certainly object to this Disciplinary Commission’s decision as it could threaten players’ freedom of expression.”

Many believe the punishment is disproportionate and sets a concerning precedent, potentially stifling athletes’ ability to speak openly about issues within the sport.
