Antonelli speaks out about Verstappen’s Mercedes transfer rumors

According to Motorsport.com, Andrea Kimi Antonelli has responded to rumors about Max Verstappen’s potential move to Mercedes for the 2026 season — a situation arising as his and George Russell’s contracts expire this year.

“If I’m talking with other teams? No no no. I got this opportunity from Mercedes and there’s no talks with anyone else going on,” explained the 18-year-old Italian driver.

The rookie driver — currently seventh in the standings with 63 points and having secured his first podium in Canada — expressed confidence in his team’s support.

“I’m very happy where I am and quite sure with the team and what they want from me. I just need to do my best and minimize mistakes,” he added.
