Anthony Sinisuka Ginting — Indonesia’s men’s singles badminton player — must withdraw from several major tournaments due to a shoulder injury. According to PBSI’s official statement, the 28-year-old athlete is experiencing problems with cartilage and muscle inflammation in his right shoulder.

This year, Ginting has only appeared in Malaysia Open 2025 — where he was stopped in the second round after losing to Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn with a score of 7-21, 10-21. Currently, he ranks 24th in the world.

“Ginting has suffered cartilage injury and muscle inflammation in his right shoulder. This injury occurred during Olympic preparation,” stated PBSI’s Head of Achievement Development, Eng Hian.

“After the Olympics, Ginting experienced pain that could no longer be tolerated,” he added.

Due to the injury, Ginting will miss several important tournaments:

  • Indonesia Masters 2025
  • All England Open 2025
  • Asian Championships 2025

For the Asian Championships taking place in Ningbo, China, Ginting’s position will be taken over by Alwi Farhan.
