Ange Postecoglou delivered on his promise by guiding Tottenham Hotspur to the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League title with a 1-0 win over Manchester United in Bilbao, as reported by TNT Sports.

The Australian coach — who declared last September that he always wins silverware in his second season — now makes history as the first Australian manager to win a major European trophy.

“It wasn’t just talk — it was a statement. If we failed, I was ready to face the consequences,” said Postecoglou.

The Spurs displayed resolute defending in the second half, parking all 11 players in their own half to protect a win that ended the club’s 17-year trophy drought.

“I know what this means to the club. It’s hard to break that cycle. I could feel the nerves, because they’ve been in this situation before,” added the 59-year-old coach.

Despite the Europa League triumph, Postecoglou’s position is reportedly under threat due to poor domestic form — with Tottenham currently sitting 17th in the Premier League standings.
