Andrée Jeglertz appointed as new Manchester City Women manager

Manchester City has appointed Denmark national team head coach Andrée Jeglertz as their women’s team new manager on a four-year contract. The 53-year-old coach will join the WSL club after Euro 2025 concludes.

Denmark is currently in Group C alongside Sweden, Poland, and Germany — with their opening match against Sweden scheduled for this Friday.

“Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs in the world. There is so much talent in this group. One of my key things is to continue the job that’s been done and take it to the next level,” said Jeglertz.

The Swedish coach has an impressive track record — winning the Women’s Champions League with Umeå in 2004, and leading the club to UEFA Women’s Cup finals in 2007 and 2008. Before his Denmark appointment, he also managed Finland’s national team for six years.

Jeglertz’s appointment ends the club’s transition period following Gareth Taylor’s dismissal mid-last season, who was then replaced by Nick Cushing as interim manager until the end of 2024-25 season.
