Andre Lotterer reveals adaptation challenges with LMP2 car at Le Mans

Andre Lotterer, three-time Le Mans 24 Hours champion, reveals the challenges he faces while adapting to LMP2 machinery — marking his debut in this class.

The veteran driver joins IDEC Sport piloting the ORECA-Gibson 07 #18, part of a collaboration with Genesis Magma Racing — the team planning to enter Hypercar class next year with Lotterer.

He partners with two Le Mans newcomers: Jamie Chadwick and Mathys Jaubert. Previously, this position was planned for former Formula 1 racer Logan Sargeant who withdrew before the European Le Mans Series season began.

“The LMP2 car is really fun to drive, light and agile, even slightly quicker than a Hypercar in corners. You can push hard in the Porsche Curves and Tertre Rouge,” Lotterer told Motorsport.com.

With just one test day at Paul Ricard, Lotterer admits he’s still adjusting to Goodyear tire characteristics — particularly in braking and corner entry. Despite disappointment with 14th in qualifying, he remains optimistic for the main race.
