Ana/Tiwi Fall Short in Malaysia Masters 2025 Quarterfinals

Indonesian women’s doubles pair, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi, popularly known as Ana/Tiwi, were unable to secure a semifinal spot at the Malaysia Masters 2025, held at Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur.

In the quarterfinal match, the world-ranked Indonesians faced a stern test against the third-seeded Malaysian duo Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan. The match ended in straight games, with Ana/Tiwi falling 14-21, 14-21 — marking their fifth consecutive defeat to the home pair.

From the very first rally, Ana/Tiwi appeared unsettled. The Malaysian duo asserted their authority early, dictating the tempo and rhythm of the first game. Their aggressive play saw them clinch it 21-14 with relative ease.

The second game followed a similar script. Tan/Thinaah surged ahead with four straight points and maintained their lead, thanks to sharp, well-placed shots and consistent pressure. Despite Ana/Tiwi’s efforts to fight back, they couldn’t overturn the momentum, resulting in another 14-21 loss.

This result extends Ana/Tiwi’s winless streak against Tan/Thinaah and underscores the gap they must overcome to challenge the region’s top pairs.
