An Se-young withdraws from China Open due to knee injury

Paris 2024 Olympic gold medalist An Se-young was forced to withdraw from the China Open 2025 semifinals against home player Han Yue — right knee injury being the main reason for this decision.

The South Korean shuttler had to retire when trailing 19-21, 6-11 — her knee condition made it impossible to continue the match.

“I felt uncomfortable with my knee while preparing for this semifinal match. I couldn’t really focus during the game because of the injury,” An Se-young told BWF Badminton.

“I really didn’t want to show this side of me on court. This injury is not something I wanted,” she added.

Despite the recurring injury, An Se-young still plans to compete in the 2025 World Championships.
