An Se-young Advances to Indonesia Open 2025 Round of 16

An Se-young, the world number one in women’s singles, began her Indonesia Open 2025 journey in dominant fashion by beating Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand in straight sets at Istora Senayan, Jakarta.

The South Korean star needed just under 40 minutes to seal a 21-14, 21-11 victory in the round of 32.

Tactical shift secured early momentum

The match began with a tense exchange, with An trailing 2-3 and 3-4. However, a crucial turning point came when Busanan’s return went wide, giving An a 5-4 lead — and she never looked back from there.

Although the Thai shuttler briefly leveled the score at 7-7, she only managed a narrow lead at 8-7 before the match slipped away from her control.

Eyes on the title as an advances to round of 16

With the win, An Se-young secures a place in the round of 16, further reinforcing her status as the tournament favorite.

She continues her pursuit of the title on the newly refurbished blue court at Istora, aiming to maintain her winning momentum throughout the competition.
