An Se-young advances to Japan Open quarterfinals after defeating Kim Ga-eun

According to Bolasport.com, South Korean women’s singles badminton player An Se-young has advanced to the Japan Open 2025 quarterfinals after defeating her compatriot Kim Ga-eun in a match held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.

The second-round match featured intense competition — particularly in the first game where both players traded points. An Se-young initially led 8-6, but Kim Ga-eun managed to close the gap to 8-9.

Heading into the interval, An Se-young scored three consecutive points to lead 11-8. After the break, Kim Ga-eun narrowed the margin to 10-11 and even briefly took the lead at 12-11.

In the quarterfinals, An Se-young will face Chen Yu Fei from China — who earlier defeated Michele Li from Canada with scores of 17-21, 21-9, 21-18. Chen Yu Fei notably defeated An Se-young in the Singapore Open 2025 quarterfinals.
