An Se-young advances to Japan Open final after defeating home representative

According to the match at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, South Korean women’s singles badminton player An Se-young has advanced to the Japan Open 2025 final after defeating home representative Riko Gunji.

The semifinal match was intense — both players started with a 2-2 tie before An took the lead 4-2 through Gunji’s error.

Although Gunji managed to level the score at 5-5, An Se-young showed more dominance by securing four consecutive points — taking a significant 10-6 lead before Gunji reduced the gap to 10-7.

In the final round, An Se-young will face Chinese representative Wang Zhi Yi who previously defeated Japanese player Akane Yamaguchi.
