Amorim reconciles with Garnacho after Europa League final conflict

According to BBC Sport, the relationship between Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim and young player Alejandro Garnacho is improving after their clash at the Europa League final several months ago.

The conflict started when Garnacho criticized Amorim’s decision to give him only 20 minutes in the final. > “I played in every round helping the team and today only played 20 minutes, I don’t understand,” said the 21-year-old player.

Amorim initially reacted harshly by dismissing Garnacho from the squad in front of his teammates. However now, the Portuguese coach shows a different attitude by allowing the player to join pre-season sessions at Carrington.

Despite their improved relationship, ESPN reports Manchester United still plans to sell Garnacho for 70 million pounds to fund squad reformation — with Napoli showing interest despite budget constraints.

Joining since 2020, Garnacho has recorded 144 appearances with 26 goals and 22 assists for United, contributing to two domestic titles:

  • English League Cup 2023
  • FA Cup 2024
