Alwi Farhan evaluates performance after intense Japan Open 2025 match

Alwi Farhan analyzes his performance following a tight match against defending champion Alex Lanier in the second round of Japan Open 2025 at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.

The 20-year-old Indonesian singles player — who has been Lanier’s rival since junior level — showed fierce resistance against the eighth-seeded French player.

The previous meeting between both players occurred about two years ago, when Alwi Farhan defeated Lanier with a score of 21-14, 21-15 in the quarter-finals of the 2023 World Junior Championships.

“Doubts emerged when I tried to change tactics in the second game — this made me less confident in my own play,” stated Alwi Farhan.
