Alwi Farhan Rises in BWF Rankings after Thailand Open 2025

According to the latest BWF ranking update, Indonesia’s rising singles player, Alwi Farhan, has climbed two spots to reach world number 29, following his strong showing at the Thailand Open 2025.

New Hope For Indonesia After Jonatan’s Departure

The 20-year-old is now being looked to as a main hope at the national training center, especially after Jonatan Christie officially left the Cipayung training center last week to pursue a professional career.

Despite his exit, Christie maintains his position at world number 5 and is expected to compete in the upcoming Singapore Open later this month.

“I grew up watching Jonatan and Ginting. It’s very sad that brother Jonatan has decided to become a professional player,” said Alwi Farhan at Axiata Arena.

“But I have learned a lot from my experience being in the senior team last year,” he added.

Junior Champion On The Rise

Alwi Farhan began drawing attention after becoming the 2023 Junior World Champion, followed by impressive contributions to Indonesia’s Thomas Cup 2024 team and his undefeated run at the Sudirman Cup 2025.
