Alpine A290 Rallye: New electric rally car ready for late-year debut

Alpine has unveiled its latest electric rally car set to make its competition debut towards the end of 2025. The A290 Rallye — a rally version of the A290 road car — is developed according to FIA eRally5 regulations for two-wheel drive vehicles.

The car features a 220 hp electric motor that channels power to the front wheels — supported by a ZF limited-slip differential and special suspension system with ALP Racing shock absorbers. Another interesting innovation is a system that allows the car to emit sound corresponding to speed and throttle position.

The A290 Rallye launch marks Alpine’s 70 years of rally heritage — recalling the A110’s success in winning the inaugural WRC manufacturers’ title in 1973. The French manufacturer plans to hold a one-make racing series in its home country before competing in open events.

The car will debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July and the Mont-Blanc Morzine Rally in September. The A290 Rallye is priced at €59,990 (excluding tax) for a complete assembled and painted unit.
