Alex Palou secured his first Indianapolis 500 victory in the 109th edition of the iconic race, held under overcast skies and light rain.

The race started with high drama as Scott McLaughlin crashed before the green flag, followed by Marco Andretti‘s incident in turn one. 2008 winner Scott Dixon faced mechanical issues that set him back by three laps early on.

Pit road proved decisive:

  • Alexander Rossi‘s car caught fire on lap 73

  • Rinus Veekay hit the pit wall on lap 81

  • Robert Shwartzman spun entering the pit box on lap 87

David Malukas surprised with a third-place finish for AJ Foyt Racing, alongside teammate Santino Ferrucci who took seventh. Meanwhile, Josef Newgarden‘s bid for a third consecutive win ended due to a fuel pump failure on lap 135.

In the closing laps, Marcus Ericsson nearly clinched a second win but had to settle for second behind Palou, who now holds a commanding 118-point lead in the championship.
