Alex Palou Dominates Drama-Filled Race at Road America

Alex Palou showcased his dominance at Road America — securing victory in the XPEL Grand Prix despite a drama-filled race and challenging fuel strategy.

The Chip Ganassi Racing driver demonstrated remarkable composure — avoiding multiple incidents while carefully managing fuel consumption to the finish line.

“It was a crazy race for us. At moments I thought we were losing a ton of positions, then we were making spots. It was a tough race for everybody,” Palou stated.

The race was marked by several incidents from the start:

  • David Malukas collided with Christian Lundgaard
  • Robert Shwartzman crashed at Canada Corner
  • Sting Ray Robb hit the concrete barrier
  • Conor Daly slid into the barrier
  • Josef Newgarden spun out at the final corner

Felix Rosenqvist finished second — his best result since last year, while Santino Ferrucci from A.J. Foyt Racing completed the podium in third place.

This victory further solidifies Honda’s dominance this season — while reinforcing Palou’s championship lead.

The IndyCar series continues at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course early next month.
