Alex Palou Claims Dramatic Victory at Road America Grand Prix

Alex Palou secured victory at the XPEL Grand Prix at Road America in an unusual fashion — leading only six laps out of the 55-lap race. This win marks the shortest time the Chip Ganassi Racing driver has spent in front during his six victories this season.

The race, which saw four yellow flags, forced teams to recalculate their strategies — particularly regarding fuel usage and optimal pit stop timing.

“I didn’t agree with Barry’s strategy call,” Palou admitted. “I got to be grumpy for a couple of laps, and then I saw it was working out, and I started saying ‘thank you’ again.”

The crucial moment came during the battle with his teammate, Scott Dixon. Dixon, who pitted two laps earlier than Palou, appeared not to save enough fuel — forcing him to make an additional pit stop with two laps remaining.

The team’s strategic decisions and Palou’s fuel management proved perfect — bringing him victory at this 4-mile circuit. This win further solidifies his dominance in the 2025 racing season.
