Alex Palou chases legendary IndyCar win record of Foyt and Unser

Alex Palou is having an extraordinary 2025 IndyCar season — the Chip Ganassi Racing driver has collected seven victories in 12 races, including a historic win at the Indianapolis 500.

With his latest victory at Iowa Speedway, Palou joins an elite group of drivers who have achieved seven wins in a single season — including AJ Foyt, Alex Zanardi, and Juan Pablo Montoya.

“It’s not as easy as it looks from the outside. I never look at the end result, though it would be amazing to get 10 wins. But if it stops at seven, that’s still quite impressive,” said Palou.

Of the five remaining races, two circuits — Laguna Seca and Portland — are Palou’s favorite venues with consistent podium finishes. The Spanish driver also has a chance to claim his first victory outside the United States at Toronto this weekend.

With a 129-point lead over Pato O’Ward in the standings, Palou could secure the championship before the final race — an achievement that would increase the likelihood of this driver matching the record of 10 wins in a single season held by AJ Foyt and Al Unser.
