Alex Marquez undergoes successful surgery after Dutch GP crash

Alex Marquez has undergone successful surgical procedure for his left hand injury — resulting from an incident with Pedro Acosta at last week’s Dutch GP.

Gresini team confirmed that the second-placed MotoGP championship rider has completed surgery for the second metacarpal fracture of his left hand. The decision about his participation in next week’s German GP remains pending further evaluation.

Meanwhile, Luca Marini is set to return to his Honda for private testing in Brno — a month after a serious accident in Suzuka that resulted in pneumothorax and multiple contusions.

Joan Mir who was supposed to join the test remains uncertain about his participation — following a collision with Fermin Aldeguer’s Gresini Ducati at the Dutch GP. Though CT scan showed no clavicle fracture, doctors advised rest due to the severe impact.

Alex Rins and Miguel Oliveira will represent Yamaha in the private test exclusively for Honda and Yamaha teams.
