Alex Marquez shows surprising pace at German GP despite hand injury

Alex Marquez demonstrated surprising performance at the German GP MotoGP practice session — the Gresini Ducati rider finished second despite struggling with a left hand injury.

After receiving medical clearance following morning FP1, the Spanish rider managed to clock 1:19.408 in the afternoon session — placing him behind Fabio di Giannantonio but ahead of his brother Marc Marquez.

“No. I mean, you always have the feeling you can be fast also like this [with an injury] – but not to be second and to be quite close to the top guys,” Marquez said responding to his unexpected result.

The world championship’s second-placed rider completed 19 laps in FP1 and 27 laps in the afternoon session — approaching the 30-lap race distance scheduled for Sunday.

While managing the pain, Marquez acknowledged his injury affects his riding style — he must ride stiffly and cannot use his flowing style. The rider is still monitoring his hand condition for upcoming sessions.
