Alex Albon reveals details of Formula 1 plans for Bangkok streets

Alex Albon is working with the Thai government to bring Formula 1 racing to Bangkok, as revealed by the Williams driver ahead of the Austrian GP.

The Thai government has approved a $1.2 billion budget to host F1 races on the capital’s streets by 2028 — a project that has received full support from Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali who visited the country earlier this year.

“Everything looks very promising,” said Albon. “Thailand is very focused on the tourism industry and Formula 1 fits perfectly with their narrative.”

Regarding the circuit location, Albon revealed that the track won’t be in central Bangkok. “This circuit will have a different character from the street circuits we’ve seen in recent years — more character,” he explained.

Despite political turbulence regarding Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s position, the project continues as planned. Albon emphasized his role in promoting motorsport in Thailand and working with the government to ensure the project’s success.
