Williams F1 Rises: Alex Albon Leads Team’s Resurgence in 2025 Season

FW47 car brings new momentum

The transformation of Williams F1 in the 2025 season is undeniable, with Alex Albon at the heart of the team’s rise from the bottom of last year’s standings.

After scoring just one point at Monaco in 2024, Williams now appears competitive with the FW47. Albon has secured points in six of the first seven races, including three top-five finishes.

Albon shines despite qualifying gap

Although trailing 3-4 in qualifying head-to-head against new teammate Carlos Sainz, Albon has been more consistent in race day performance. At the Imola Grand Prix, the Thai-British driver finished fifth — though he believed a podium was within reach.

“It’s weird, isn’t it? On a pure race, we were fighting for P3, P4. Maybe we were a bit lucky with the VSC, but then got unlucky again on the last safety car,” Albon said after the race.

Strong teamwork fuels performance

Team Principal James Vowles credited the healthy collaboration between Albon and Sainz for the team’s momentum. Albon has reportedly shared feedback and strategies with Sainz, fostering mutual improvement and strengthening internal dynamics.

Eyes on Monaco, cautious about Barcelona

Looking ahead, Albon remains cautiously optimistic. He believes Williams could perform well in the tight streets of Monaco, but Barcelona’s technical layout might present greater challenges.
