Alex Albon criticizes Formula 1 racing guidelines after incidents in Spain and Canada

According to Motorsport.com, Alex Albon has expressed his dissatisfaction with Formula 1’s current racing guidelines — particularly after experiencing several incidents at the Spanish and Canadian Grand Prix.

At the Barcelona GP, Albon was forced off track at Turn 1 following a maneuver from Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson. A similar incident occurred in Montreal during a battle with Alpine driver Franco Colapinto.

“I don’t like how we’re racing at the moment,” stated Albon. “Barcelona Turn 1 was a good example of that. If the other car squeezes you off and releases the brake pedal and gives you no space, it’s true that it’s their corner — but at that point you’ve committed so late into the corner.”

The FIA has just published comprehensive guidelines explaining how stewards will judge wheel-to-wheel incidents. Albon indicates he needs to modify his approach to align with the existing rules.

Liam Lawson acknowledges understanding Albon’s frustration. He adds that modern track designs with wide asphalt run-off areas also contribute to this issue — unlike go-kart racing where drivers instinctively knew fair racing boundaries.
