Aleix Espargaro to replace injured Luca Marini at Dutch MotoGP

Honda test rider Aleix Espargaro will take over from injured Luca Marini at the 2025 Dutch MotoGP in Assen Circuit — continuing the series of rider replacements at Honda HRC Castrol team.

Marini — who is Valentino Rossi’s younger brother — is still recovering from fractures and pneumothorax following a serious incident at Suzuki 8 Hours about a month ago.

Previously, Takaaki Nakagami had substituted for Marini at the Italian GP. Now it’s Espargaro’s turn to take to the Assen track this weekend.

“I’m very happy to help Honda HRC and work with the factory team this weekend in Assen. Many riders dream of being in the Honda factory team, so doing this now is both surprising and a real joy for me, even if it’s temporary,” stated Espargaro.
