Ahmad Maulana Replaces Buffon, Indonesia Attacks with More Confidence in Second Half

Indonesia U-23 head coach Gerald Vanenburg made a key substitution at the start of the second half by bringing in Ahmad Maulana to replace Buffon, who had a less convincing performance in the first 45 minutes.

Buffon struggled to maintain composure in defense and was caught off position during several Malaysian counterattacks, putting extra pressure on the backline.

Ahmad Maulana’s introduction brought greater stability. He showed better control, positioning, and anticipation in reading Malaysia’s attacking movements.

The change had an immediate impact. Indonesia began to push forward with more confidence, with the backline providing a stronger foundation for the midfield and forwards to build attacks.

The wings became more involved, and Garuda Muda started to dominate possession and dictate the rhythm of play early in the second half.
