Aguero: Xabi Alonso Is Destined to Coach Real Madrid

Sergio Aguero, former Argentine striker and close friend of Lionel Messi, believes Xabi Alonso is destined to become the next head coach of Real Madrid.

Aguero’s comments come amid growing speculation about Carlo Ancelotti’s future at the club following their Champions League quarter-final exit at the hands of Arsenal — a heavy 5-1 aggregate defeat.

“I think Xabi Alonso is meant to coach Real Madrid. He has everything — tactical intelligence, leadership, and a deep connection to the club,” Aguero stated in a recent interview.

Alonso is currently enjoying a sensational season with Bayer Leverkusen, leading the Bundesliga and reaching the Europa League semifinals. While his contract runs until June 2026, Leverkusen’s CEO Fernando Cerro has hinted at a possible exit:

“We have a gentleman’s agreement. If one of his former clubs calls, we will talk and won’t stand in his way.”
