Age Highlights Evos’ Weaknesses Amid Ongoing MPL ID Slump

In the sixth week of MPL ID Season 15, which wrapped up last Sunday (4/5), Evos found themselves in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons as they failed to beat Alter Ego and Geek Fam. And these results prompted heavy criticism from professionals regarding their strategic approach, including their own management.

Prior to Week 6, they had also suffered crushing defeats against Onic ID and Bigetron. This series of poor results has now placed the Blue Tiger in 7th place in the MPL ID Season 15 current standings, trapping them in the elimination zone alongside Navi and Dewa Esports.

The team’s decline has been a bitter pill for fans to swallow, especially after a strong start to the season.  Notably, Evos performed strongly in the first three weeks, securing second place with only a narrow point gap behind the leader RRQ Hoshi.

The team’s internal situation has also been far from ideal. Despite the return of two top players ahead of the mid-season—Nicodemus “Natco” Dustin and Jabran “Branz” Bagus—they have yet to show significant improvement. The tension escalated further when Steven “Age” Gunawan, head of Evos’ MLBB division, publicly criticized the management’s approach.

Draft woes exposed

In his recent social media livestream, Age dissected Evos’ recurring draft-phase shortcomings. He argued that while rival teams have innovated their strategies, Evos’ drafts remain inconsistent—a critical flaw for a team with global ambitions.

“In my opinion, if Evos plays two or three games, at least one will have a poor draft. It’s not consistently strong. I don’t know if it’s the coaches’ or players’ fault, but teams aiming for international title can’t afford drafts like this. There’s no excuse for weak drafts when you’ve been in the scene this long.”

Specifically, Age highlighted head coach Adit “Aville” Rosenda and analyst Tesista “Caleb” Kayleb have failed to keep up with the rapidly evolving strategies in MPL ID. His critique underscores growing pressure on the coaching staff to reverse the team’s fortunes before history repeats itself.
