After Loss to Shin Tae-yong, Former Malaysia Coach Returns in New Role

Tan Cheng Hoe, the former Malaysia national team coach who experienced a heavy defeat against Indonesia under Shin Tae-yong’s guidance, has now rejoined Harimau Malaya.

During his tenure with Malaysia, Tan faced a difficult moment in the AFF Cup 2020 — his team suffered a crushing 1-4 defeat to Indonesia in the group stage, which ultimately led to his resignation from the head coach position.

After several years away, Tan Cheng Hoe now gets a second chance to contribute to Malaysian football — this time in a different capacity as the Technical Director of Harimau Malaya.

His return marks a new chapter for the team, as Tan‘s experience and leadership will play a key role in shaping the future of Harimau Malaya, guiding them toward better performances in future regional tournaments.
