Aaron Ramsey Set for Surprise Move to Mexican Side Pumas UNAM

Former Arsenal and Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey is reportedly on the brink of a surprising transfer to Mexican club Pumas UNAM, according to ESPN. Negotiations between both parties are said to be in advanced stages, with a verbal agreement already in place.

A new chapter after managerial role at Cardiff City

Ramsey, 34, recently completed his stint as interim manager of Cardiff City, following the club’s relegation to League One. Despite stepping into a coaching role, the Wales international is eager to continue playing at the highest level.

The potential move to Pumas UNAM is believed to be facilitated by Efraín Juárez, the club’s head coach, who shares the same agency as Ramsey. This connection has reportedly been key in accelerating the deal.

Decorated career and World Cup ambitions

With 86 international caps for Wales, Ramsey boasts a decorated career that includes:

  • Three FA Cup titles with Arsenal

  • A Serie A title and Coppa Italia with Juventus

  • A semifinal run at Euro 2016 with the Welsh national team

Despite his age and recent managerial experience, Ramsey remains focused on competing at the international level.

“There’s a lot to play for, and that World Cup is a massive carrot being dangled,” he said in April, underlining his desire to lead Wales to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
